After the main event of the largest milestone for the UFC up to date, many were left flabbergasted. Unfortunately, it was not due to the sheer dominance its heavyweight displayed but rather his complete disregard for his opponent and fans in the arena. The question that continues to be asked is whether Brock Lesnar is on the level.

July 11th couldn’t take any longer to arrive. But when it did, it came with thunder just like the Olympian’s flying forearm attack. As we watch from around the world the spectacle before us, we’re we watching our modern day warriors in combat or we’re we watching barbarians slugging it out?

Machida's recent victory to claim the UFC light heavyweight title was definately a long time coming. This blog is not about the fight. Rather it is ongoing debate which Machida is a symbol.

Man, am I disappointed. One of the worst cards I've seen in a while. And Anderson Silva? What the hell, man?
Anderson Silva v. Thales Leites
The worst fight I can remember seeing. I've probably seen worse. But I can't remember them. Picked the fighter, but way off on the method. Terrible fight.

Here we go. Live at 8PM on Pay-Per-View. You know I'll be there, will you? These are my predictions. I went 4-0 with my choices at the last fight night, so let's see if I can keep it rolling.
Anderson Silva(23-4) v. Thales Leites(14-1)

David "Tank" Abbott the grey breaded warrior as some call him. We all remeber him from the early days of MMA and in the early days of the UFC. I'm going back to about 1996 to about 98. Tank had a name for himself. Could knock out anyone with those heavy hands. Of course durning this time period it wasn't true MMA it was more style vs style. I think just his whole look. I mean the guy looks like a badass got his fame going then in 1998 Tank Abbott signs with the WCW and becomes a professinal wrestler. Really helping out the sport that helped him get where he is today. So he stays in the WCW till it's fall all the while MMA evolved into what it currently is.

Ken Shamrock a name that's synonymous with MMA. A fighter at UFC 1 back when it was style vs. style. He lost in the semi-finals to the legend Royce Gracie. A few years later he'd fight Royce again to a draw at UFC 5 at that time an unheard of end for a Gracie fight. Shamrock leaves the UFC in 1996 to go fight in Pride. At the end of 2002 which I'll call his peak or at least before he started desecrating the sport that made him a household name his record was 20-7-2. He came back at UFC 40 to start his feud with Tito Ortiz. They had three fights Shamrock one none of them. In fact Kimo is the only guy he beat from 2/24/02 till 2/13/09.

Ed Herman, does everyone remember when we first seen him on the Third season of the Ultimate Fighter. Kept saying the whole season that he was the best fighter in the house and that how the whole MW division better look out because Short Fuse is coming. Remember how we waited all season to finally see him fight in the last prelim fight. I often replay the memory of where all the other fighters were partying with Ken Shamrock and Ed Herman really wants to drink the night before his FIGHT! Fortunately Ken stopped him. Well backing up what he said Ed did mow down his first two opponents and made it to the finals. In the Finals he met Kendall Grove in the Octagon. Both of them gave the fans on hell of a fight but in the end Herman lost a decision to Grove. Not to worry Dana White gave Herman a contract of his very own. That seems to happen alot even with fighters that don't make it anywhere near the finals.

Okay I know that this isn't about real life MMA but it's something that I think that most people who enjoy MMA, MMORPG or just games in general will enjoy. MMArmy is a browser based text game that's free to play with a basic account with a one-time fee of $20 for a premium account. You (the player) take on the role of being in charge of a camp of fighters. You'll train them, get contracts for them and finally send them out to fight in one of the 20+ promotions. The fighter will earn cash for you to buy better equipment, buy the fighters better outfits, and the ability to recruit more fighters.

Well it's that time again, time for the UFC to find another opponenet that's able to survive against Anderson Silva. This time they picked Thales Leites and not a bad choice. I know many people are saying that Leites is just a bone for Silva's mandatory title defence but would anyone like pointing out who's The Spider's equal in the 185 division. Silva's got that division in a stranglehold, he's the best p4p fighter in the world and he's proves it time and time again. Leites on the other hand maybe enough of an underdog to give Silva a run for his money and all of us fight fans an upset. Let's look at the fighters.

Brock Lesnar almost from the moment he walked into his first match in MMA people have been just unmerciful to him. Saying he's not a real fighter that this is all a joke that he's another hype job like Kimbo Slice. So he has his first match against Min Soo Kim and wins that one and gets into the UFC. Yes I'll admit in large part do to the fame that he got from the WWE. First fight in he loses to Frank Mir by a leg lock. Everybody screams and shouts that this proves that Lesnar is a joke and that he has no business in real MMA. Didn't anyone notice that for most of the fight that Brock was pounding Mir's face in. At the post-fight interview which fighter looked better.

The first thing I want to say is that I love the Iceman like most other MMA fans do. Chuck was the first fighter that got me interested in MMA and was my first favorite to. I don't care what anyone says about him whether they love him or hate him the man's a legend and I'd say did more for MMA than anyone. However in recent times I'm starting to think that maybe that Chuck's time has passed.

Fedor Fedor Fedor, a name that's known to almost everyone who's even spent five minutes watching MMA. Generally considered by most blogger and well the so-called experts to be the best fighter in the world and with a record of 29-1 I guess he can back that claim up. Then again can he really.

Hello readers!
On March 11, 1994, I invited some friends over for an evening of Pay Per View action. It was the Ultimate Fighting Championship's second tournament, and those of us who watched in my home in Buffalo will never forget the awesome (and gruesome) spectacle we witnessed.

The term mixed martial arts is a new and controversial topic in the sporting world. Its utterance on popular sports forums, news and media outlets, and among the general public can evoke dichotomous images of blood, violence and barbaric brutality, while at the same time conjuring quite opposing ideas of skill, respect, and the beauty of the human form in top physical condition, depending on who you ask.

Even my parents who don't watch MMA know Kimbo lost to a no-name Saturday. What happened Oct. 4th was a joke of an event and here is why. There are already two controversies brewing...
The first controversy was reported today on Sherdog.com that Seth was paid extra by EliteXC to stand up with Kimbo, not take him down. This is blatent fight-rigging in my eyes and further shows how dumb business-wise EliteXC really is. The EliteXC execs must have thought Seth would have gotten smashed by Kimbo if they stood and banged it out for while. Takedowns are half of the battle in mixed martial arts fights, and to offering money to a certain fighter to not use this technique is downright cheating everyone who was interested in a real fight. I felt giddy Saturday night after the fight since EliteXC’s fight-rigging backfired horribly and their main superstar lost to a no-name Seth Petruzelli.

Oh how we loves us some Kimbo. There is just something about a pop internet sensation who is undefeated in the most dangerous sport out there. Sure his wins over Bo Cantrell, Tank Abbot, and James Thompson were lackluster, showing Kimbo's crazy standup but it also showed us he has no ground game. As most MMA purists say, he doesn't deserve all this media attention he is getting as there are more skilled fighters out there. This is where I disagree with the purists. Kimbo alone has brought new fans to the sport that no one else could. The excitement before a Kimbo fight is right up there with all the championship fights I have seen as of late. Nothing like tossin back some brewskies at your buddies house with Kimbo's beard in high definition on the big screen.
