The first thing I want to say is that I love the Iceman like most other MMA fans do. Chuck was the first fighter that got me interested in MMA and was my first favorite to. I don't care what anyone says about him whether they love him or hate him the man's a legend and I'd say did more for MMA than anyone. However in recent times I'm starting to think that maybe that Chuck's time has passed.
First off he's gone 1-3 in his last 4 fights with his only victory coming off a decision. This is NOT the Liddell that everyone knows and loves. In the Evans fight he didn't even look like the Iceman and he almost walked into that punch. I don't know if people are figuring out his style or if it might be over for him. Before Evans he barely could handle Silva and this fight was almost a joke. Back in 03 this would've been Superfight but in 2007. The Liddell that I know would've kicked this guy's teeth down his throat. The Jardine fight was a joke, a horrible fight just compounding on a horrible card.
The real sad truth is that I see Chuck becoming the next Ken Shamrock just another guy that has no clue when the dream is over and it's time to hang up the gloves and retire. I say that not to be mean but I'd like the Iceman to remain the legend that he is unfortunately you're only as good as you're last fight and with the way things are going... He's forty years old and I don't see him stopping anytime soon. The Iceman's next fight is scheduled on 4-18-09 against Mauricio "Shogun" Rua and I hope he's back to his old ways. If not, if he loses this fight I hope he really thinks about ending his career just so that it doesn't become a joke like Ken Shamrock or Mark Coleman. Chuck Liddell no matter what you'll always be the best!
