Brock Lesnar almost from the moment he walked into his first match in MMA people have been just unmerciful to him. Saying he's not a real fighter that this is all a joke that he's another hype job like Kimbo Slice. So he has his first match against Min Soo Kim and wins that one and gets into the UFC. Yes I'll admit in large part do to the fame that he got from the WWE. First fight in he loses to Frank Mir by a leg lock. Everybody screams and shouts that this proves that Lesnar is a joke and that he has no business in real MMA. Didn't anyone notice that for most of the fight that Brock was pounding Mir's face in. At the post-fight interview which fighter looked better.
So then he goes in and defeats Heath Hearing and does so convincingly. However do to the fact that he couldn't knock him out and won by decision everybody said the judges were biased. Lesnar only won because Dana White paid the judges to score the bout for Lesnar. Was anyone watching the same fight I was. Hearring got the bejesus knocked out of him and looked pretty well destroyed at the post-fight interview.
Then came the news that it would be Lesnar vs Couture and everyone acted like it was the worst thing to happen to the sport since Josh Koscheck. People said that he didn't deserve a title shot or that the only reason he got one was once again the WWE. Now when he got the shot there were actually two champs. Randy and Nogueira and Mir was set to fight Nogueira. Randy came back and a little 4 man tournament to decided the undisputed champ. Who else was it going to be Tim Syliva had back to back losses. Hearing just lost. Lister was losing as well and no one else had really beaten a top contender. While I'll admit that it did drum up qay more interest Lesnar was a perfectly viable candidate for the shot.
Then the fight happens and Lesnar beats Couture in the second. When that happened I thought maybe now everyone will at least acknowledge him as a legitimate contender in the UFC. Many did and many more did NOT. They said everything from the fight was as rigged as Wrestlemania, White had done something to Couture's water just all of the craziest garbage you can think of. The number one thing said though was that Brock got lucky. Well how many of the top fighters have won a fight purely on luck. How many times when top fighters meet they win on luck? They get a lucky punch, slip in the sub because of another's mistake, how many times does this happen. I think everyone knows the answer.
So now Brock's beaten Randy Couture a legend of MMA and captured the HW title along with it. To all of you that still say he's a hype job like Kimbo Slice what in the blue hell does he have to do to get over it. He's got the title and he won it and won it convincingly off one of the greatest of all time what more do you want. Maybe when he kicks the crap out of Mir all of you will finally shut up. Of course you'll probably come up with another crazy reason to keep Lesnar in the Hype job category. Is it really that hard for you guys to admit that you might have been wrong here.
