Ed Herman what a disappointment for everyone who watched the third season of the The Ultimate Fighter

Ed Herman, does everyone remember when we first seen him on the Third season of the Ultimate Fighter. Kept saying the whole season that he was the best fighter in the house and that how the whole MW division better look out because Short Fuse is coming. Remember how we waited all season to finally see him fight in the last prelim fight. I often replay the memory of where all the other fighters were partying with Ken Shamrock and Ed Herman really wants to drink the night before his FIGHT! Fortunately Ken stopped him. Well backing up what he said Ed did mow down his first two opponents and made it to the finals. In the Finals he met Kendall Grove in the Octagon. Both of them gave the fans on hell of a fight but in the end Herman lost a decision to Grove. Not to worry Dana White gave Herman a contract of his very own. That seems to happen alot even with fighters that don't  make it anywhere near the finals.

So it's been almost three years since that fateful night with Grove and where is Herman now. Standing with a not so impressive 3-4 record. I'll give him credit the three he's won, none went to a decision. All three of the guys he beat are no longer with the UFC. One of them Joe Doerksen had a abysmal record of 1-6. For the people that's beat Herman the best one of them was Kendall. His next fight and loss was against Jason MacDonald a guy that does well on the mid-card but when put against top talent can never rise to the occasion. Then he goes on his little winning streak and his reward is a fight aginst  Demian Maia. A chance to push himself back onto TV and guess what, he loses. His last fight against Alan Belcher ended with a loss. Bleacher was another decent mid-carder that Herman couldn't put away.

So disappointing to see how it all turned out for someone I thought would win the whole thing on the Ultimate Fighter. There's just one thing bothering me going back to that whole night with Ken and the guys. If Ken hadn't stopped him and said you can't have that you've got a fight tomorrow or something like that. I'll bet you dollars to doughnuts Ed would've drank. How committed are you to your so-called dream if your going to do something like that. It makes me wonder does he have a problem and is that holding him back? I mean because almost any fighter I've seen would never even consider having ONE drink the night before a fight. Even Ross Pointon the biggest joke they've had on the show (that I can remember at the moment anyway) didn't consider that. He may have ate most of a pizza after cutting weight but still that's not the night before a fight. So I don't know I hope that alcohol didn't curb his fighting career or if it did he got it under control.

Ed Herman's next fight is on April 18th against David Loiseau. David is another guy that just can't anywhere above the lower mid-card.

On the other hand maybe I was wrong about Ed as a fighter. Maybe we all gave him way more credit than what his skill could back up. I'll just always have this doubt in the back of my mind going back to that strange night with Ken and the guys.
