Anderson Silva's Title Fight what a crock

Now the first thing that I want to say is that I don't blame Anderson Silva for the debacle at UFC 97. It really wasn't his fault and I have to give credit to Chuck for coming to his defense. However on a whole UFC 97's card for the most part stunk.

For me personally the night was tainted by the fact that it's a real possibility that it was Chuck Liddell's last fight. As much as I hate to see the Iceman go I hope he doesnt stick around so long that he wrecks his legacy. That paled in comparison to the Main Event. Thales Leites vs Anderson Silva when this fight happened I wasn't expecting anything just a good fight. Those hopes died when in the first ninety seconds NO ONE THREW A SINGLE PUNCH. That was both of there's fault. Then it went on to get worse with each on going round of Leites constantly going to the ground. Every time that Silva would try and get close Leites would go to his back. It was honestly painful to watch. It was boring and just a bad fight.

The entire time i was wondering why in the hell Leites if Silva was not taking the bait WHY did he presist. If your the challenger you HAVE to beat the champ the champ dose not have to beat you. The judges unless you completely beat the snot out of the champ will always favor the champ in a decision victory. I mean how many times in that fight did Leites intentionally go to his back I lost count after ten. I've never seen a fight that the fans started to boo from almost the time it started to the time it ended going from boo's to a repeated GSP chant to finally a Bullshit chant. Because in my opinion that's what Leites viewed the fight as bullshit.

I mean why in the hell didn't he try to rush him and get the take down, Why didn't he check all the leg kicks. Did he not show up prepared. I agree with a hell of alot of people this was the worst main event since the UFC reinvented itself. I remember the last fight at UFC 3 being REALLY BORING. I would still go out on a limb and say that fight was better than UFC 97.

I hope for the future of the sport they don't have to many more stinkfests like this
